Ayaz Shaikh, MD, FRCSC

He is a clinical instructor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois School of Medicine, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Shaikh is also a plastic surgeon at Carle Center for Plastic Surgery.

His special interests include cosmetic surgery of the face, breast implant augmentation, tummy tucks, liposuction and body contouring after massive weight loss. He is skillful in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, the liquid facelift and the non surgical nose job.

Dr. Shaikh received his medical degree in 1987. He acquired general surgery residency training at Episcopal Hospital, Philadelphia and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan. He completed a plastic surgery residency at McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences, Hamilton, Ontario, followed by an Advanced Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the same institution.

He acquired specialty certification in plastic surgery and went on to complete further clinical fellowships in Hand Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, Craniofacial Surgery at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina and Aesthetic (cosmetic) and Breast Surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Shaikh has published several articles in general and plastic surgery and has made numerous presentations to professional societies.

Dr. Shaikh is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He is a candidate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is also a board member of Champaign County Medical Society.

Dr. Shaikh derives a great deal of satisfaction as a plastic surgeon by creating a positive impact in his patient's lives and improving their confidence and self esteem.
